Broadband wireless service providers worldwide are grappling with migration strategies from fixed and nomadic broadband wireless to 802.16e mobile WIMAX technology. This session will investigate the key technical and commercial challenges, and identify best practices for this evolution in a variety of market environments. The CTO of Irish Broadband will present a case study on the practical implications of Irish Broadband’s move to mobile WiMAX. The CTO of Telsima will present one approach to fixed to mobile WiMAX network migration and the CTO of WiTech will leverage the NOVUS approach to effectively plan and implement this type of WiMAX network migration initiative. Finally, the CTO of the Retelit Group will describe his company's plans for deploying WiMAX in North and North-Central Italy using the 3.5 GHz spectrum acquired for 23 million euro in the recent auction.

WiMAX, Femto Cells and Mobile Broadband

The need to economically deliver broadband services have resulted in interest in a variety of network technologies including femtocells. The underlying value proposition for femtocells to deliver low cost broadband connectivity will be investigated in this session. Particular emphasis towards the development of low cost femto-cell technology, and the enablement of compelling business models for broadband wireless services.
